  • Bastardo Red 2015

    Agricultural year:
    The season started with a cold and dry Winter, followed by a warm Spring, and very mild Summer. Harvest season came early and with perfect weather, including providential mild rains in mid-September. Grapes were healthy, balanced and perfect throughout the harvest. This will be a vintage to be remembered.

    Grape varieties:
    Bastardo

    Vineyards:
    Schistose soils. Made with grapes from 30 years old vines from Quinta Chão do Pereiro.

    Vinification:
    Grapes are hand-picked and transported to the cellar in 20kg boxes, and then foot-trodden in granite lagares, with no destemming and no added yeast. Once the alcoholic fermentation is complete the wine is racked in stainless steel tanks.

    Élevage:
    10 months in stainless steel tanks.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon

    Premium wine, a delightful and very pronounced varietal scent that can remind and to black currant, smell sharpened pencil or a new book. There was a spontaneous cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. The wine is dark black color which is obtained from the foreskin of their small dark blue berries. After taste is full, dry and extremely harmonious, making it recognizable.

    Agricultural year:
    The season started with a cold and dry Winter, followed by a warm Spring, and very mild Summer. This will be a vintage to be remembered.

    Grape varieties:
    Field blend of about 10 different traditional grape varieties, including Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Códega, Gouveio, Donzelinho Branco, Folgazão, Arinto.

    Vineyards:
    Granite soils. Made from a special block of a very old, pre-phylloxera vineyard in a small granite plateau (600 m above sea level) in the parish of Freixo de Numão, 15 km to the West of Foz Côa.

    Vinification:
    Grapes picked by hand in small boxes. Grapes are refrigerated, and then pressed in pneumatic press, without destemming. Cold decanting, then fermentation with controlled temperature in French oak barrels and regular batônnage until one month before bottling, which took place in July 2016.

    Élevage:
    20 months in French oak barrels (50% new).

    Agricultural year:
    Good weather during harvest, allowing to pick very ripe and healthy grapes, thanks to slow ripening, which preserved good acidity.

    Grape varieties:
    100% Syrah

    Vineyards:
    Clay and limestone soils.

    Vinification:
    Grapes picked by hand to 18kg boxes. Vinification in cement vats with controlled temperature.

    Élevage:
    20 months in French oak barrels.

  • Contraste Red 2014

    Agricultural year:
    Somewhat wet weather all year long, allowing for good water reserves in the soil. Summer was mild, with cool nights that drove the grapes to perfect maturation. A relatively early start of the harvest brought great fruit in, and then sporadic rains came, but with good open skies periods that allowed for strategic harvesting.

    Grape varieties:
    Mostly Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional

    Vineyards:
    Schistose soils. Made with grapes from 40 years old vines from Quinta do Cabido, and Quinta Chão do Pereiro.

    Vinification:
    Grapes picked by hand in small boxes. Destemming, followed by crushing and pumping to stainless steel tank. Fermentation with controlled temperature, gentle pumping-overs, final maceration for one week. Malolactic fermentation in tank.

    Élevage:
    18 months, 70% in used French oak barrels and 30% in stainless steel tank.
